From January to June, I worked with a class of high school students from Lyons Community School on Making the Grade,
a project about the NYC restaurant grading system with the Center for Urban Pedagogy.
This urban investigation was eye-opening for all of us. We toured one of the largest and fanciest kitchens in Manhattan, made a visit to the Public Advocate's Office, and grilled three DOH food inspectors about their job. Plus, we had some very good snack breaks in between. The students made a presentation of the project in June, and I am very proud of them. I always want to share projects, but more so because it's a CUP project and I love the work they make happen.
